id.tel Cookie & Browser Storage Notice

1. What these technologies are

Cookies are small data files a website can store through your browser. Local storage and session storage are browser technologies that can store small values without using a traditional cookie. Similar technologies can be used for authentication, security, preferences, analytics and attribution.

2. Our approach

id.tel is not designed as a cross-site advertising network. We use first-party technologies primarily to keep accounts secure, provide requested functionality, understand engagement with a specific business Action Page, attribute QR interactions and administer legitimate Partner referrals.

3. Essential authentication

When you sign in, our authentication infrastructure may use cookies or equivalent session technologies required to keep you authenticated, protect your account, maintain secure sessions and prevent unauthorised access. These technologies are necessary for signed-in functionality and generally cannot be disabled through an id.tel privacy preference without also ending the related account session.

4. Security and service operation

Our infrastructure may use technical cookies, request identifiers or security mechanisms that are reasonably necessary to deliver the site, route traffic, prevent abuse, detect fraud or maintain security. These are not used by id.tel to create unrelated advertising profiles.

5. Action Page visitor identifier

When optional Action Page analytics is permitted by your privacy choice and the applicable regional setting, id.tel may create a random first-party visitor identifier in browser local storage. The identifier is scoped to that individual business page. It is designed to help estimate repeat reach for that business without correlating the same browser across unrelated id.tel businesses.

The identifier does not contain your name, email address, phone number or raw IP address. It normally remains in local storage until it is cleared by your browser, removed by you, the browser removes it, or you switch id.tel analytics off through Privacy choices.

6. Action Page session identifier

When optional Action Page analytics is permitted, id.tel may create a random session identifier in browser session storage. It is used to distinguish activity during a browsing session and reduce duplicate event counting. Session storage normally ends when the relevant browser tab or browsing session is closed, subject to browser behaviour. Turning Action Page analytics off through Privacy choices removes id.tel's optional analytics storage from the browser.

7. QR attribution

When optional Action Page analytics is permitted and you arrive through an id.tel QR code, id.tel may store the relevant QR attribution in session storage so later actions during that session, such as a call, directions request, booking click or website visit, can be attributed to the QR placement that led you to the business. This is scoped to the relevant business page and session.

8. Campaign and referral source

Where optional analytics is permitted, public analytics may derive a limited referral source from URL parameters or the referring website, for example direct, search, social, QR, campaign or referral. Source details are limited and are intended to help a business understand how its Action Page was reached rather than build a profile of an individual across unrelated sites.

9. Partner referral attribution

When Partner referral attribution is permitted by your privacy choice and regional setting, following an approved id.tel Partner referral link or entering a Partner code may create a first-party, HTTP-only attribution cookie so a later eligible subscription can be attributed to the Partner. The current standard attribution period may be up to 90 days. The cookie contains a protected attribution token rather than a Partner's ability to read your browsing activity.

10. Partner attribution is not a management permission

A Partner referral cookie determines commercial attribution only. It does not by itself give the referring Partner access to your private business account, analytics, billing or business information. Managed access requires a separate authorised relationship and permissions.

11. Privacy preference storage

id.tel stores your privacy choice in a first-party preference cookie so we can remember whether optional Action Page analytics and Partner referral attribution are allowed. This preference is treated as necessary to remember the choice you made. It is currently retained for up to about 12 months unless you change it or clear site data earlier.

Because id.tel publishes business pages on subdomains, the preference may be scoped across id.tel and its id.tel subdomains so your choice is applied consistently instead of being requested again on each business Action Page.

12. Third-party embedded services

Where id.tel links to an external website, map, booking provider, social network, payment provider or other service, that third party may use its own cookies after you visit or interact with that service. Those technologies are governed by the third party's policies. A normal outbound link does not give id.tel control over cookies set on the destination site.

13. Payments

Stripe or another identified payment provider may use cookies or similar technologies when you enter a checkout or billing flow for fraud prevention, payment security and payment processing. Those technologies are also subject to the payment provider's privacy and cookie practices.

14. No current cross-site behavioural advertising

id.tel does not currently use the first-party Action Page analytics described in this Notice to sell personal information or build cross-context behavioural advertising profiles. If this materially changes, we will update this Notice and provide any controls required by applicable law.

15. Jurisdiction-aware consent

id.tel uses a coarse country code supplied by hosting or network infrastructure to choose the privacy mode that applies to the request. We do not need precise GPS location for this control. In the EEA and United Kingdom, and when the country cannot reliably be resolved, id.tel uses a privacy-safe prior-consent mode: optional Action Page analytics and Partner referral storage remain off until you allow them.

In other regions, first-party optional analytics and referral attribution may be enabled by default where the current legal basis permits, but the same Privacy choices control remains available so you can switch either category off.

16. Changing or withdrawing your choice

You can reopen Privacy choices from the persistent id.tel control and select Essential only or change the optional categories individually. When Action Page analytics is turned off, id.tel stops new optional public analytics tracking in that browser and removes id.tel analytics identifiers and QR attribution from local/session storage. When Partner referral attribution is turned off, id.tel clears the applicable referral attribution cookie and checkout will not use an older attribution token while your current preference remains off.

Changing a browser preference does not necessarily erase historical records that were lawfully created before the change, including aggregated business analytics or completed commercial attribution, where retention is still permitted or required. You can contact us regarding applicable deletion or objection rights.

17. Global Privacy Control

If a supported browser sends Global Privacy Control, id.tel currently applies the more privacy-protective behaviour by keeping optional Action Page analytics and Partner referral storage off in that browser. This is in addition to any legally required treatment of recognised browser or device preference signals.

18. Browser controls

Most browsers let you inspect, delete or block cookies and stored site data. You can also clear local storage and session storage through your browser settings. Blocking all storage can interfere with sign-in, security, referral attribution, analytics or other functionality.

19. Changes

We may update this Notice as browser technology, id.tel features, vendors or law changes. The current version and effective date appear at the top of this page.
